Bandleader Severin Behnen leads our renown house band in a celebration of the music of founding band member Bruce Burnside. It is said that Bruce was the one that first found the Washburn/Bayfield area and lured our other band members here to play a show. Most of them never left. Bruce has sat at the heart of the Blue Canvas Orchestra and Big Top Chautauqua for all of their 29 plus years, and was a founding member of Lost Nation String Band before the tent was ever “thunk up.” As a prolific composer, Bruce has brought many compositions and shows to the tent including “Lincoln’s Living Legacy,” “Stories For the Water,” and “Unsung Stories of the Civil War.” We pay homage to Bruce and his music in a retrospective of his work.
