The popular island home tour returns this July. The tour this year includes both historic and new homes. Tour Merrymeet, the island's second oldest cottage, Lazy Days, a small cottage next to Merrymeet, Mission House on Whitefish, The Eyrie, the Erstling/Martin House and the Mack Guest Cottage, designed by Alex Haecker and built by Leslie Mack. Participants follow a map and drive their own vehicles to each location (car pooling recommended). Immediately following tour refreshments will be served at the Heritage Center, and Linda Mack, author of Madeline Island Summer Houses:  An Intimate Journey, will give a talk on the history island's summer retreats.

The tour raise funds for the Madeline Island Historical Preservation Association, which operates the Heritage Center, a collection of historic island buildings.
