Name: “Beneath the Sky: Landscapes of Legacy and Light”  Paintings Exhibition
Date: August 3, 2026 - September 6, 2026
Event Description:

Steve McHugh invites you to experience the evocative beauty of Madeline Island and Lake Superior through his upcoming exhibition, "Beneath the Sky," running from August 3rd to September 6th, 2026, at WOW Art Studio + Gallery on Madeline Island. This deeply personal collection of paintings captures the enchanting landscapes that have shaped Steve’s artistic journey— from the whimsical loupines to the venerable native ancestor trees and the hidden forests that whisper stories of the past.

Using bold colors and layered textures created with cold wax and oil, Steve’s works range from intimate small-scale pieces to commanding large canvases, each revealing the unique character of the island and its timeless connection to the natural world. His approach brings to life the ancient sentinels of the forest and the rich, vibrant ecosystems that surround Lake Superior, inviting viewers to step into a world where history and nature intertwine.

The event kicks off with an artist reception on August 3rd, featuring live music and refreshments, offering visitors the perfect opportunity to meet Steve McHugh, explore the collection, and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of creativity and inspiration. Whether you are a longtime admirer of landscape art or discovering Steve McHugh’s work for the first time, "Beneath the Sky" promises a moving celebration of place, memory, and artistic expression at WOW Art Studio + Gallery.

Join us on Madeline Island this summer for a visual journey that highlights the profound beauty and legacy of one of the Lake Superior region’s most gifted artists.
