Name: LPC Madeline Island Book Club
Date: June 21, 2022
Time: 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
The Madeline Book Club will start its summer season book discussion with a special guest speaker and discussion leader, Alan Brew, Director of the Sigurd Olson Institute of Northland College.  It is a joint program with Madeline Island Wilderness Preservation with additional funding from the La Pointe Center for the Arts.  Brew will begin with a presentation on the background of Sigurd Olson and his literary works.  This will be followed by Brew leading the discussion with book club members on Olson’s classic works, The Singing Wilderness and Reflections from the North Country.  Comments abound about Brew’s skills as a teacher and speaker and his passions for literature and the natural world.  Degrees include PhD, MA University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and BA, Gustavus Adolphus College.

The program is at the Madeline Island Public Library, Tuesday, June 21st at 7:00 p.m.  This will be an in person presentation and members can either come in person or attend by zoom.  The library is providing space, equipment and as always, has ordered copies of the books to check out which will probably arrive next week.  The library already has a few copies of The Singing Wilderness for loan.  We hope you can join us for what should be a stimulating program and discussion of Sigurd Olson timeless writings on the environment.
