Location: Madeline Island Museum

Learn about the bats of Wisconsin, and which bats call the Chequamegon Bay Area home.  Explore the diversity and importance of bats and the role they play in ecosystems around the world.  They are an integral and amazing part of our ecosystems and our everyday lives.

Speaker:  Brian Heeringa, Wildlife Biologist Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.

Brian Heeringa is the Wildlife Biologist for the Washburn Ranger District of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. He received his degree from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point and has worked with the USDA Forest Service since 2003. In addition to coordinating the bat monitoring program on the National Forest, Brian has worked with a team of biologists to coordinate bat acoustic survey efforts across the Eastern Region of the Forest Service.
